Fort Edmonton Foundation launching Light the Midway campaign to raise $1 Million to illuminate Fort Edmonton Park’s midway
On August 25, 2020, Fort Edmonton Foundation is launching the Light the Midway fundraising campaign in support of Fort Edmonton Park’s renovation, including the expansion of the 1920’s-style Johnny J. Jones Midway. The Light the Midway campaign goal is to raise 1 million dollars and is inviting the community to buy symbolic lightbulbs to illuminate the midway when it reopens in 2021.
The expanded Johnny J. Jones Midway at Fort Edmonton Park will recreate the 1920’s Edmonton Summer Exhibition midway. It will provide the experience of visiting a carnival 100 years ago and feature bright lights throughout, plus a bigger Ferris wheel and vintage rides, life-size maze, games alley, funhouse, and much-acclaimed Cabinet of Curios exhibit.
There are thousands of lights that need to be illuminated throughout the midway. Fort Edmonton Foundation is inviting the community to buy a bulb(s) for $50 (minimum donation). The campaign runs until Spring 2021 and also offers opportunities for the community to get involved with individual and team fundraising.
It will be a historic moment at Fort Edmonton Park when the midway lights up at the grand reopening in 2021 and stays bright for future generations to enjoy! For more information visit: www.lightthemidway.ca
