Fort Edmonton Foundation Volunteer Profile: Margaret Min

We took some time to get to know Margaret, and see what makes her excited about volunteering.
Margaret decided to become a volunteer as she transitioned from a busy IT career to retirement last fall and was looking for something to keep her occupied as well as the opportunity to use her skills to give back to the community.
Margaret stumbled on a Fort Edmonton Foundation article in the local community paper last November. Margaret says, “After meeting with Janet, where I learned a lot about Fort Edmonton Park and the expansion plans, I realized that the Fort Edmonton Foundation is a good fit for me. The Park is a place my family and I can enjoy with my granddaughter and grandson over the years.”
Margaret’s most memorable experience as a volunteer with the Foundation was at the recent A Night in the Wild West event, on September 16th. “It is amazing to see the Fort Edmonton Foundation staff, board members, volunteers and the Park staff work so well together to make this gala a success.”
When asked why she thinks people should consider volunteering for the Foundation, Margaret believes that “volunteers help promote the expansion of Fort Edmonton Park as well as help keep Edmonton’s history alive (through the steam engine train, the street car, the horse drawn wagon rides, the costumed interpreters, and more).”
To any new volunteers considering helping out, Margaret adds, “The Fort Edmonton Foundation is a great place to volunteer as the staff are very friendly and they make you feel like you are an essential part of the organization.”
Margaret has put in many volunteer hours, and we love having her as part of our team. Thank you Margaret for your commitment of time and energy to the Fort Edmonton Foundation!
